Happy August!

I know a lot of people are eager to dive into the autumn season. Between the spiced drinks, delicious baked goods, and cozy clothes, it can’t be helped. I, for one, am eager to binge watch scary movies and read some thrillers. I’ve had a good summer and I’m ready for a few more summer days, but I miss wearing hoodies, drinking hot chocolate, and baking all the pumpkin spice flavored things.

As a mood reader, my taste in books coincides with the seasons. I have one more summery read I want to get done before fall, but I’m ready.

Bring it on.

The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren

Liam is the heir of a massive grocery store chain and Anna is a starving, struggling artist. They got married, no strings attached, during college so they could get subsidized housing. Once they graduated, they went their separate ways. However, a clause in his grandfather’s will requires Liam to be married for at least five years in order to inherit his money. So when the two are invited to a private island for Liam’s sister’s wedding, they have to make the entire Westin family believe they’ve been in love for the last five years.

This is the last summer read for me. I’m over the fluffy romances and the easy-going plots. However, I started reading this in July through Spotify, but I ran out of listening hours. I really liked the main character, Anna, and I want to see how it ends.

Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson

Rhythm of War is the fourth book in the Stormlight Archives. I find nothing cozier than an epic fantasy series. Sanderson especially has a special place in my heart because of how healing these books are. I’m eager to get into this one and see what devastates me.

The first book in this series is Way of Kings and I highly recommend it if you have the patience for it.

Foxglove by Adalyn Grace

Foxglove is the sequel to Belladonna! I read Belladonna last month and the second book was available at the library so it’s added into the rotation. I can’t say much about Foxglove without spoiling Belladonna, but I’m excited to see how Signa develops as a character in this one. I’m even more excited to read about the side characters and how they develop.

I’m only planning to read those three books. Rhythm of War is very long and I’ve been very depressed so I don’t want to put too much on my plate. I’ve also been trying to figure out a writing routine. It’s more time consuming than I thought it would be and I really want to work that out.

What are you planning to read this month?
