“Read a lot, write a lot.” – Stephen King, On Writing
A Writer’s Philosophy
I’m Morgan. I’ve spent years losing myself in stories, both the ones I read and the ones I write. As I’ve grown older I’ve realized the quintessential quality of good writing is to be realistic. And I don’t mean get rid of your wands and your wizard’s robes. I mean show me tragedy and devastation and hope and love. Take me to the darkest part of the characters’ souls and then show me how they deal with it.
Think of your favorite story. Why is it your favorite? Does it provide refuge against the stresses of your life?
Think of your favorite character. Do you love them because of their charming good looks or because some aspect of their design speaks to a part of you?
We are irrational beings. We love the bad guy more than the good guy. We root for the underdog. We are all tangled, muddled, convoluted messes. And it’s beautiful.
Join me on my quest to find out what it means to be human.
And maybe, maybe find your next favorite book in the process.

Meet the Inspiration
This is Magnolia, AKA Maggie. She was named after the flower, after a symbol of perseverance. While she can’t read, she sits on my lap while I read the books I review and write the stories I share. She likes long walks in the woods and cuddles.
